Make-up and More!

As this event draws near, I hear the clock ticking and start feeling the pressure!

This year we have a skilled, enthusiastic, and very LARGE make-up committee which is exactly what we need.  More make-up artists means less work for each one, less pressure in the schedule, and less time for the models to have to spend getting ready.

Just a portion of a huge make-up donation.

I just can't wait to see our models done up!

Thanks to my make-up artists, Janelle Robertson, Chris Fletcher, Christa Skinner, Camille Racine, Abby Zluticky, Elizabeth Lopez, Julie Ramos, Jessica Aldrete, Melissa Real, Nicole Spiers, and Vicki Wright.

Come Tuesday night to the work night/make-up night combo and see the art in progress!

WOW!

The April 22nd work night was a huge success!  We had a great turnout and a lot of progress to show for it!  Lots of variety in the work we completed.  And the food and beverages we consumed.

Thank you to Tina Doering, Johnny, Sophia and Julie Ramos, Caroline Hosford, Kelcy Mohr, Katie Brinkman, Sonya Brinkman, Leslie Howard, and Danell Oxler for all your work!  Thanks to Gretchen Postiglione for all your work AND for the snacks!  Thank you to models Sarah Kisling and Lena Vogt for hopping by for fittings.

A HUGE thank you to Rebecca Martin for an extremely generous donation of Mary Kay products to help us get our models looking spot on for the big night!
This isn't even all of it.  It's at least 3 lifetime supplies of lipstick in every color.
Not to mention the eyeshadows, foundations, powders. . .

Get on over to a work night, be a part of the process!

Dive Right In

We really have a lot of projects we need to finish, backdrops need blocked, details need added, costumes need sewn, props need made....and to do that, we need lots of helping hands.  If you can make a work night soon, please do!  Check the right side list to see work night opportunities in the future.  I try to keep it as current as possible, and we add dates often.  Email me at emilymichellescott@gmail.com, if you would like to receive my emails about NOLA work nights.
There WILL be wine and snacks!  We PROMISE!

"I am not an artist" will occasionally get dropped by someone considering attending a work night.  It is a talent, but also a skill you can gain with practice.  We haven't had a person we couldn't put to work yet!  A little hands-on art leaves you with a satisfaction that very few things in life provide- immediate, completed accomplishment.

People also hesitate to do something that they might 'mess up'.  For me, the confidence to push forward is usually fueled by the knowledge that the worse case scenario is I have to re-paint something.  It seems like we seldom make mistakes on these projects, I attribute it to the fact that raising money for the altar needs is God's will, and He gives us the grace to succeed in things way above our actual abilities.

Thanks to the models, who have been coordinating fittings and committing to sitting as live paintings.    Thanks to Kelcy Mohr, who is coordinating a couple exciting additions to enhance our original vision.  Thanks to Randi Marino for coming to photograph our projects, and Tina Doering for all her time and commitment to the projects we have been doing.

See you tomorrow!

Small Progress, Big Project

I am relieved to remove "The Cradle" off the wall after a somewhat frustrating dilemma last week.  Now, it looks great and we can check one piece off the list!  Woohoo . . . or just whew!

In its place I am SO excited to be starting on the Gustav Klimt piece.
Just gorgeous.  Details, colors...this will be a fun one.
Fun details on this piece
So we're pretty much done....or not.
The art isn't exactly moving along at a rapid rate, but thanks to Tina Doering, Melissa Gerlach, Rachel Johnson, Camille Racine, and Jackie Woodruff, we are making slow gains on the artwork.

Here is the beautiful Vettriano backdrop- and I think with just a few more hours of work, we will be calling it 'done".

Come to a work night!  Let's kick this progress into high gear!  Check the sidebar for more work nights in the future.

I promise I will equip you with snacks and drinks of the alcoholic or non-alcoholic variety.  Whatever your skill level, we have projects for you.  Come be a part of this unique event's making.

Contact me if you would like to come work outside of a regular work night, we will set something up!
